Did you know that…

Rabbits are small-sized mammals belonging to the hare family (Leporidae). The hare family consists of 11 genera, most of which are called rabbits, and there is only one true hare genus—hares (Lepus). The most well-known rabbit species is the European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), from which all domestic rabbit breeds have been selectively bred.

Domestic rabbits are used for meat, wool, and fur production, or certain rabbit breeds are kept as pets. They were kept as pets in Ancient Rome, and during the Middle Ages, many rabbit breeds were developed.

Domestic rabbits are much larger in size compared to wild rabbits, although dwarf breeds have also been created, which are very popular as pet breeds. Domestic rabbits have a wide variety of fur colors. Their fur is soft and silky. An Angora rabbit breed has been developed specifically for producing very soft and fluffy wool.
