Did you know that…

Historically, the breed was developed in England in the Aberdeen, Banff, Kingardine, and Angus provinces. In England, this cattle breed was called Aberdeen Angus, but in Europe, the USA, Canada, and other countries, the geneticists in those countries have specifically bred for traits of interest to them, so it is no longer considered the original breed developed in England. Therefore, the term Angus cattle is used worldwide. In Latvia, German Angus cattle are bred. German Angus cattle are characterized by genetic polledness, a solid-colored coat—either black or brown, although a uniform grey coat color is not considered a mistake, nor are small white patches on the lower belly or udder. Angus cattle can weigh up to 1000 kg, are not picky about feeding and housing conditions, and the breed is used for creating different crosses, both for dairy cows and for beef breeds.
